It was hard to miss our good news this week as Matilda The Musical was splashed across the headlines following Sunday night’s prestigious Laurence Olivier Awards. We won a record-breaking seven Oliviers, beating our own previous record haul of six awards for Nicholas Nickleby. At a glittering ceremony at the Royal Opera House, our four Matildas performed “Naughty” live to a packed audience, before jointly scooping the Best Actress in a Musical Award. Co-writers Dennis Kelly and Tim Minchin were on hand to pick up the coveted Best New Musical Award and, via a live-link with New York, Matthew Warchus picked up the Best Director Award. The other awards were Best Actor for Bertie Carvel, Best Choreography for Peter Darling, Best Set Design for Rob Howell and Best Sound Design for Simon Baker. A huge congratulations to all the Company.
