Become a Change My Story Champion School:

Change My Story has been devised on a region-by-region basis and includes a national search for up to 50 Change My Story Champion Schools who will work with the RSC and their regional theatre to stage a special 45-minute edit of Matilda The Musical as their school play. Any state-maintained school in the touring regions will be able to apply for one of the 50 places which involves committing to a two-year programme of creative work, including professional development and training opportunities for teachers and working with five other local schools to share skills and knowledge from the programme.

Improving Literacy Through Matilda The Musical – Teacher CPD

Location – UK Tour Regions

This new and exciting two-day course for KS2 teachers explores ways of extending writing within the primary classroom.

Our approaches have a proven impact on reluctant and lower ability writers, developing their imagination and use of descriptive language, inspiring them to write with confidence and enjoyment.

The one day course focuses on using ‘Matilda The Musical’ to inspire and extend pupils’ writing skills using rehearsal and performance approaches from the production as a way to engage pupils, exploring narrative structures and developing characters and dialogue.

To register your interest in the Literacy CPD training, please email education@rsc.org.uk  stating your school’s location.

Matilda The Musical In-School Workshops

We are delighted to be able to offer schools in the touring areas the opportunity to book an in-school workshop. Workshops are developed in response to the needs of your students and can incorporate musical, written or performance outcomes. Suitable for KS2 & KS3.

How To Book

Matilda The Musical In-School workshops cost £175 for a two-hour workshop for up to 30 pupils, delivered in your school. If your school is located in Bradford, Edinburgh, Bristol, Southampton or Norwich, please email education@rsc.org.uk to find out more.
