Matilda wins 4 Tony Awards

Fabulous news from New York! Our Broadway production of Matilda The Musical has won a fantastic four awards at the 2013 Tony® Awards. With a total of 24 awards for the London production including a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards, our trophy cabinet now contains 47 international awards.

The Tony® Award recipients at last night’s glittering ceremony were Dennis Kelly for the Best Book of a Musical, Rob Howell for Best Scenic Design, Hugh Vanstone for Best Lighting Design and Gabriel Ebert (Mr Wormwood) for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical.

Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Gregory Doran said: ‘We are so proud to win an amazing four Tony Awards and a Tony Honour for Excellence in the Theatre for our Matildas. It’s an honour to be on Broadway and we want to pay tribute to the fantastic American cast and crew who have worked on the show since January and to the incredible response we have had from New York audiences.’
