Miss Honey Meets The Duchess of Cornwall
16 Feb 2016
Earlier this month, we announced that Matilda The Musical would be making appearances at Southbank Centre’s Imagine Children’s Festival, as part of the celebrations for the centenary of Roald Dahl’s birth. Today it was announced that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall has been named the Patron of Roald Dahl 100 – a year of global celebrations marking 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl. To mark the beginning of her new role, The Duchess visited the Southbank Centre and took to the stage with none other than Matilda London’s Charlotte Scott as Miss Honey to read together from Roald Dahl’s novel, The BFG and Matilda. They sat in front of the fabulous installation ‘Crunchem, Catchem, Spellem’, created by our award-winning set designer, Rob Howell, which consists of giant satchels and brightly coloured lettered tiles, much like the ones in the show!
There will be a further reading and performance from the cast of Matilda The Musical as part of the ‘Dahl in a Day’ event on Thursday 18 February at Southbank Centre. Rob Howell’s installation will be available to view as part of the Imagine Children’s Festival until Sunday 21 February.
