Auditions – UK & Ireland Tour
SHAREWe are looking for children for the UK & Ireland touring production of Matilda The Musical.
WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE AUDITIONS FOR MATILDA AND HER CLASSMATES?
Auditions will be held in Manchester during February and March 2025.
IMPORTANT DATES
Rehearsals – July and August 2025, in Manchester and London.
Performances – September 2025 to June 2026, on tour.
All children must be available for the entire rehearsal and performance period. Holidays will only be allowed during nominated holiday weeks, and parents must be able to bring their child to the Manchester rehearsal rooms, The Palace Theatre and/or Manchester Piccadilly train station.
HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO AUDITION?
We will audition children for the role of Matilda who are aged 9 to 12 on 1 July 2025, and under 4’3” tall.
Her classmates need to be aged 9 to 13 on 1 July 2025. Boys must be under 4’10” tall, and girls must be under 4’6” tall, with brilliant dancing and singing skills! Boys must have unbroken voices.
WHAT WILL I HAVE TO DO IN THE AUDITION?
You will be asked to perform a short poem, speech or monologue. We will also ask you to sing something and you will be taught a dance from the show.
WHAT IF I LIVE OUTSIDE MANCHESTER?
We need to cast children for all the roles within travelling distance of Manchester, so they can live at home and attend their own schools. You need to live within one hour of central Manchester.
WHAT TO DO NEXT?
If you’d like to audition, you will need to complete an online form. Before starting the form, we’d like you to make two or three 30 second films on your phone. These are sometimes called a self-tape. The quality doesn’t matter, and please, no longer than 30 seconds.
1 A 30 second speech, poem or monologue
2 A 30 second song (unaccompanied)
3 A 30 second dance (optional)
